NSW: Jeweller ordered to correct misleading sale advertising

SYDNEY, April 11 AAP - Jeweller Prouds has been ordered to correct advertising in a
2006 catalogue which made misleading claims about sale discounts.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) said Prouds February 2006
Mother's Day catalogue had claimed huge discounts, such as "Was $199/Now $99.50, on 17
items, but the watchdog found that none of the goods had ever been sold at the higher
price.

The ACCC said the advertising was misleading and deceptive, and had breached the Trade
Practices Act.
