FED: Experts confirm formaldehyde levels not dangerous:Macklin
CANBERRA, April 12 AAP - Indigenous Affairs Minister Jenny Macklin says she has been
advised that a cancer-causing chemical detected in containers housing government staff
is unlikely to cause long-term health effects.
It was revealed yesterday that up to 26 people working in the Northern Territory as
part of the federal intervention were living in converted containers containing excessive
traces of formaldehyde.
Formaldehyde, is a toxic chemical used in glue that can cause cancer, asthma, respiratory
problems and skin and nasal irritations.
