Bintulu Port to spend RM200m on expansion

BINTULU Port Holdings Bhd (BPHB), the owner and operator of Bintulu Port in Sarawak, will invest RM200 million to double its container-handling capacity from 327,000 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) currently to 650,000 TEUs by 2011.

Part of the funds will also be used to expand its container yard and buy new equipment.
"We will soon call for tenders," its chief executive officer Mior Ahmad Baiti Mior Lub Ahmad said after the group's annual general meeting in Kuching yesterday.
