Fed: Australian wheat allowed back into Iraq

CANBERRA, April 29 AAP - The first shipment of Australian wheat bound for Iraq since
the AWB kickback scandal is being loaded today in Geelong.

Farmers have hailed the resumption of trade as "terrific news" and say Iraq could once
again become one of Australia's major wheat markets.

Australia has been barred from the lucrative Iraq market since 2006 when the Iraqi
Grains Board suspended imports by Australian wheat exporter AWB over its payment of $290
million to the regime of Saddam Hussein.

Now the trade is back on. Global grain marketer Glencore is loading 50,000 tonnes of
wheat ...
