Merrill reiterates buy call on Ta Ann, WTK

MERRILL Lynch has reiterated its "buy" recommendation on timber firms Ta Ann Holdings Bhd and WTK Holdings Bhd due to improving industry fundamentals.
Prices of log and plywood will be boosted by Russia's move to raise export duty on softwood logs to 25 per cent from 20 per cent in April.
Major buyers such as China and Japan rely heavily on Russia's log supply.
The two companies also have long-term volume growth plans in place via forest planting and have also diversified into palm oil plantations.
