Merck to speed up plant closings
WHITEHOUSE STATION — Merck & Co. Chief Executive Officer Richard Clark says the company will accelerate plant closings and other cost cuts as it braces to lose as much as $700 million in sales this year from its Zetia and Vytorin cholesterol pills. The company will shut four more factories, in addition to the five closed as part of cost-cutting measures initiated in 2005, Clark said Monday.
