SARAJEVO, Bosnia and Herzegovina, May 6, 2008 (IPS/GIN) -- An
activist group is holding satirical political actions this week,
leading up to a large-scale anti-violence protest on May 9 in
Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Founded and mobilized on the Internet, the informal group of
activists, called Citizens of Sarajevo, has drawn roughly 3,000
people to its protests in the last three months. The demonstrators
have demanded the resignation of Sarajevo Canton's prime minister
and the city's mayor. They also want a transparent and functional
government, as well as increased safety on the streets.
