Soc: 'Sickened' police hit out at Rangers fans

MANCHESTER, England, May 14 AFP - Manchester Police said they were "sickened and disappointed"

after violent clashes with Rangers fans marred the UEFA Cup final which the Glasgow side
lost 2-0 to Zenit St Petersburg.

An estimated 100,000 fans descended on the city, with the majority camped near big
screens at three 'fan zones' to watch Rangers' bid to become the first Scottish club to
win a European trophy in 25 years.

Trouble flared at one fan zone when one of the big screens broke down. Police equipped
with shields and batons eventually charged Rangers fans after they had begun pelting police
