Bertelsmann, the German media conglomerate, is poised to pick an outsider from its printing plant business in Germany to head its crown literary jewel, Random House, the leading English-language trade book publisher.
The company's headquarters in Gutersloh, Germany, was preparing to issue an announcement Tuesday.
