NCAA penalizes Hall on academics

The Seton Hall men's basketball program was docked one scholarship by the NCAA, it was announced Tuesday, because the Hall fell one point short of the 925 minimum for the NCAA's Academic Progress Report for the period from 2003-2007.

However, that won't affect the Pirates for this upcoming season. Instead, they went without the scholarship last season.

"We anticipated the penalty last summer and we applied it to the 2007-'08 season," Seton Hall athletic department spokesman Matt Sweeney said.
