Vic: Melbourne's Sudanese call for international help in Abyei

MELBOURNE, May 27 AAP - Hundreds of members of Melbourne's Sudanese community marched
through the city today to call for international action to halt the bloodshed in the troubled
nation's oil-rich town of Abyei.

Tens of thousands of people have been displaced and countless numbers killed since
heavy fighting broke out in Abyei on May 13.

Abyei lies just north of the disputed boundary line between north and south Sudan,
which fought a civil war for more than two decades before a 2005 peace agreement.
