QLD: Gold Coast Tourism targets Chinese

GOLD COAST, June 2 AAP - Chinese tourists make up the newest growth market on the Gold
Coast, a conference has heard.

The number of Chinese visitors to the glitter strip increased to 112,000 in 2007, a
jump of 65 per cent from the previous year, Gold Coast Tourism corporate relations director
Stephen Holle said.

Speaking at a forum at the 2008 Tourism Futures conference on the Gold Coast today,
Mr Holle said attracting the overseas market, especially the Asian market, had become
a key priority in their five-year plan to increase visitation.
