Fed: First new RAAF Airbus arrives for tanker conversion
CANBERRA, June 6 AAP - The first of the Royal Australian Air Force's new Airbus planes
has arrived in Australia for conversion to a tanker aircraft.
Parliamentary secretary for defence procurement Greg Combet said the A330 aircraft
touched down today at the Qantas Australian Conversion Centre at Brisbane Airport.
It left the Airbus facility in Toulouse, France, earlier this week.
The A330 is the first of four aircraft to be modified in Australia. A fifth has already
undergone modification in Madrid, Spain.
The new Airbus tankers will replace the RAAF's ageing Boeing 707 tankers in a deal
