Qld: Liberals vote in favour of new conservative party

BRISBANE, July 1 AAP - Queensland Liberal Party members have voted in favour of merging
with the Queensland Nationals, but the plan must still survive the state conventions of
both parties later this month.
Liberal leader Mark McArdle described his membership's support for the union as "a
ringing endorsement", despite only 57 per cent of members returning a vote.
Of those 57 per cent, 85.8 per cent were in favour of the move, which would create
a new conservative force called the Liberal National Party of Queensland.
