Patented astronomy technology from the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) was tested successfully on August 7 - a step toward completion of the U.S. Expanded Very Large Array (EVLA) in New Mexico.
NRC said the test demonstrated the power of a Canadian supercomputer, called a correlator, which combines signals from many radio-telescope antennas so that they function as a single astronomical instrument.
