Vic: Brumby condemns taxi driver bashing

MELBOURNE, Aug 29 AAP - An attack that left a Melbourne taxi driver swollen and bruised
was a cowardly and inexcusable act, Victorian Premier John Brumby said today.

The 42-year-old driver was found unconscious about 20 metres from his taxi at a petrol
station car wash in Wyndham Vale, about 4.30am (AEDT) after being assaulted by three men.

"I'm deeply concerned about that and there's no excuse for that sort of behaviour,"

Mr Brumby said.

"It's just completely unacceptable, inexcusable and it's a cowardly act."

By December 31 safety screens will be mandatory in all cabs operating ...
