Qld: State government missing on reef action: WWF

BRISBANE, Sept 1 AAP - The Queensland government is "missing in action" on attempts
to prevent further harm to the Great Barrier Reef, a green group says.

Addressing the impact rivers and their run-off are having on the reef at the international
Riversymposium in Brisbane, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) spokesman Nick Heath said it was
shameful the state government had done so little for the reef when it was so important
to Queensland.

"They have committed ... to halt and reverse the pollution to the reef," Mr Heath said.
