Just a generation ago, visitors to Beijing found a city with few restaurants, where idle and surly wait-staff issued a standard retort, which translated to roughly: we don't have any. How much can change in a generation? As of today, China's capital has its own Zagat guide to dining, hotels and other attractions.
As NPR's Anthony Kuhn reports from Beijing, it's a telling sign of the city's gastronomic rise ...
