Tractors: More opting to rent heavy equipment

TRACTORS Malaysia Holdings Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of conglomerate Sime Darby Bhd, says people are choosing renting over buying of heavy equipment in the current global economic slowdown.

"Customers were sceptical about our (tractor-hire) scheme when it was introduced seven years ago, but now we are seeing an increase in demand for it.
"To date, we have rented out 1,600 (sets of) equipment nationwide," managing director Chong Kwea Seng told reporters after opening Tractors Malaysia's Butterworth branch in Juru, Seberang Prai, yesterday.
