NSW: Water Safety Council aims to halve drowning deaths

The Australian Water Safety Council says it aims to reduce drowning deaths in Australia
by 50 per cent by 2020.

The Australian Water Safety Strategy 2008-2011 .. to be released in Sydney today ..

has been developed over the past 18 months from extensive industry consultation .. and
input from Australia and overseas.

Australian Water Safety Council convener ROB BRADLEY says drowning deaths in Australia
have been on the increase since 2004 .. particularly in the under-five age group.
