Motor: Princes of the mountain

BATHURST, NSW, Oct 12 AAP - Peter Brock will always be the King of the Mountain, but
Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup crowned themselves princes of Australian motor sport today
with a rare hat-trick of victories in the Bathurst 1000.
Lowndes, Brock's protege, and the still-emerging whizz-kid Whincup, 25, controlled
the race from lap 34 of the 161 circuits at a sunny Mt Panorama circuit, striking a hammer
blow for Ford after seven successive Holden victories to 2005.
In recording the first treble for 24 years, the favourites from Team Vodafone emulated
a feat achieved by only three drivers before them.
