Gansu Poor People Population Decreasing
LANZHOU, Aug 11, 2008 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Gansu Province of Northwest China has 1.2611 million absolutely poor people by the end of 2007, 627,100 less than the 1.8882 million by the end of 2001, or down 6.51% annually, according to local statistics.
6.1% of the population in rural areas were poor people, down 3.24 percentage points from the occurrence rate of 9.34% in 2001.
