THE local desktop computer industry has the potential to grow, despite the influx of branded machines and high popularity of notebook computers.

According to Intel Malaysia's marketing manager, sales and marketing Norhizam Kadir, while tier-one markets such as Kuala Lumpur, Johor Baru and Penang belong to branded PC players, there is a niche demand for non- branded PCs or Whitebox PCs in the tier-two and tier-three areas comprising smaller towns and outskirts.
