Another first
Rookie right wing Patrick Davis became the Devils' fifth player to play in his first NHL game this season because of the team's rash of injuries. The team record is seven.
Davis, 21, was called up from Lowell on Sunday on an emergency basis because right wing Brian Gionta was too sore to play after going hard into the boards in Saturday's loss in Detroit.
Davis, the Devils' fourth-round draft pick in 2005, was tied for the team lead in Lowell with five goals.
He scored twice in Lowell's 5-4 loss to Bridgeport on Saturday.
