There's money in bird's nests

THE state government is looking at the rearing of swiftlets for bird's nest production as a new source of income.
The 1,036 breeders in the state, who own 1,484 swiflet houses, generate RM36 million a year, said state agriculture committee chairman Datuk Tan Aminuddin Ishak.
He said Kuantan had the most breeders (500) followed by Rompin (218); Temerloh (200); Pekan (60); Bera (29); Jerantut (14); Raub (8) and Bentong (7).
