WEEHAWKEN Chef Michael Haimowitz was in the kitchen of Arthur's Landing, preparing for dinner service when his sous chef, Juan Guzman, burst through the door at 3:30 p.m. "You have to get out here," he was told.

Outside the riverfront restaurant's windows, floating in the Hudson River a few hundred yards away, was US Airways Flight 1549, and its 155 passengers and crew stepping out onto the wings.
