BAK Battery Heavily Bets on Batteries for Electric Vehicles

SHENZHEN, Mar 04, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Shenzhen BAK Battery Co., Ltd. (Nasdaq: CBAK), which mainly produces the batteries used for mobile phones and laptops, lately decided to march into the EV (electric vehicle) battery market, with a huge investment of USD 300 million.

Presently, the company has completed the preliminary preparations for establishment of a new plant in Tianjin municipality, north China, and its trial production of batteries used for light-duty EVs is in progress. Tianjian can contribute about 33% to China's total EV production capacity now.
