NSW: Big retailers not allowed to open on Easter Sunday
SYDNEY, March 20 AAP - Major retailers, including supermarket chains Coles and Woolworths
along with David Jones and Harvey Norman, have been refused permission to trade in NSW
on Easter Sunday.
The retailers applied through the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) to open on Easter
Sunday, some citing the potential economic benefits in increased spending and the fact
that not everyone shares the significance of the day.
But the OIR has ruled that those retailers as well as Big W, Aldi and Clive Peeters
must remain closed.
It has also refused hardware chain Bunnings the right to open. That ...
