Early Rice Futurs Approved in Zhengzhou
BEIJING, Mar 24, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- China's securities regulator approves of early rice futures trading on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange, where a wide range of agricultural commodity futures are traded.
Currently, China is the world's biggest rice producer, whose rice production in 2007 covered 30 percent of the world's total. Its rice planting areas and output were 29.23 million hectares and 186.5 million tons in 2007, accounting for 27.7 percent of the nation's total planting areas and 37.2 percent of its grain output.
