Vic: Scores of NSW, federal police heading to Vic

MELBOURNE, Feb 17 AAP - Scores of NSW and federal police will arrive in Victoria on
Thursday to relieve local officers exhausted after dealing with the bushfire crisis.

The 150 NSW police and 50 federal officers will arrive in Victoria on Thursday, in
what may be the largest deployment of police to another Australian jurisdiction.

"This is quite unprecedented, but NSW police are more than willing to assist given
the circumstances," said NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione.

It is understood the officers will be sworn in as Special Constables in Victoria and
deployed to the bushfire-hit areas ...
