Opening Statement of Bart Gordon Chairman House Science and Technology
Committee Committee on House Science and Technology April 1, 2009 Good
morning. Welcome to today`s hearing on the Networking and Information Technology
Research and Development, or as it is commonly known, the NITRD [``ny-ter
D``] Act. Last year, this Committee held an oversight hearing on the NITRD
program. At that hearing we heard from a panel of expert witnesses on the
findings of a recent assessment of the program carried out by the President`s
Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). The PCAST recommendations
