Minivan More Popular than Light-duty Truck in Rural Market

BEIJING, Apr 09, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Minivan producers have benefited from China's subsidized promotion of vehicles in the rural market, while light-duty truck manufacturers get no support from the policy.

As the country's rural promotion focuses on green energy cars, small-displacement minivan manufacturers like Dongfeng Motor Corporation (DFM), Jiangxi Changhe Auto Co., Ltd. (SHSE: 600372), and SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd. (SGMW) all speed up their production to meet the growing demand.
