China Coal Prices Rising in China

QINHUANGDAO, May 15, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- The prices of coal for power generation have risen at the Port of Qinhuangdao since mid-April 2009 when power stations have started storing coal for the upcoming power consumption peak in summer.

At the northern port, a major harbor for coal transportation in China, the FOB (free on board) trimmed price of Datong blended premium coal (5,800ka/kg) rose to CNY 620 a ton on May 13 from CNY 590 on April 13, and that of Shanxi blended coal (5,000ka/kg) leaped to CNY 510 from CNY 485.

At the same time, domestic power generators have lifted their overseas coal ...
