Union Bank of Bangkok (UB) insisted that the search for foreign
investors remains its top priority while the merger option with Leam Thong
Bank requires further study.
UB president and chief executive officer Piyabutr Cholvijarn said the
bank is trying to find international investors to inject fresh capital
into the bank. So far, there have been several European and Asian investors
who have expressed an interest in the bank's recapitalisation plan.
The bank's shareholders are also ready to reduce their holding and
management control in return for fresh capital, he said.
Piyabutr added that the merger option is just one of the ways to meet
its recapitalisation ...
