TDM expects to profit from higher CPO prices this year

PLANTATION firm TDM Bhd has clarified that its pre-tax profit for fiscal year ending December 31 2009 will not drop 69 per cent to RM44 million from a year ago.

Its chief executive officer Badrul Hisham Mahari said that if crude palm oil (CPO) price were to hit RM1,700 a tonne, the worst- case scenario for the company would be a pre-tax profit of RM44 million.
However, TDM expects its 2009 pre-tax profit to be well above RM44 million, driven by higher CPO prices and fresh fruit bunch (FFB) production.
