GAIG-FIAT Passenger Car Project Moves to Changsha

GUANGZHOU, Jun 08, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group (GAIG), a vigorous carmaker based in south China, decides to build the FIAT-cooperated passenger car project in Changsha, capital of Hunan Province, rather than in Panyu, Guangzhou as it previously filed the Chinese regulators.

Insiders at GAIG say that the engineering department of the group has already remove the project from the base in Panyu in the blueprint. GAIG will only manufacture itself-developed brands of cars in Panyu but roll out FIAT-branded cars in the base in Changsha.
