WA: Authorities show scant respect for elder's high standing

PERTH, June 19 AAP - On January 27 last year, on a scorching day in the WA outback,
a man lay dying in the back of a prison van as the temperature soared past 50 degrees
celsius.

His body temperature had climbed towards a lethal 42 degrees - more than five degrees
above normal - after the van's air conditioning failed.

And he couldn't be revived after being transferred from Laverton, about 600km south-west
of his home town of Warburton, to face court in the Goldfields centre of Kalgoorlie.
