A&W hopes to break even this year, post profit in 2010

A&W (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a unit of KUB Malaysia Bhd, expects to turn around its business this year as it opens new outlets and refurbish existing ones.

Last year, A&W Malaysia posted a net loss of around RM5 million on revenue of RM42 million.
The loss-making company was bought by KUB in 2002 from TDM Bhd, the previous franchise holder for A&W.

The A&W brand was not successfully developed by TDM in Malaysia and its outlets were mostly focused in Sabah and Sarawak.
