PepsiCo will invest $1 billion in Russia over the next three years and will open outside Moscow its largest bottling plant in the world, the company announced Monday on the sideline of a summit meeting between the Russian and American presidents.

The announcement by Pepsi came as an echo of the company's first appearance in this country, in 1959, which also took place on the sideline of a political tete-a-tete in Moscow and is known as the Kitchen Debate.
