FED: High Court commemorated in exhibition
CANBERRA, July 8 AAP - The High Court of Australia will continue to play a vital role
in forming Australian history as long as the public believes in it, Chief Justice Robert
French says.
Justice French paid tribute to the court at Canberra's National Archives on Wednesday
while unveiling an updated exhibition.
He hoped the display would remind people of the strength and importance of the High
Court, which was formed in 1903 despite an extensive public campaign against it. The radical
magazine Tocsin once described it as "the most dangerous cancer in this diseased Constitution".
