Computers make life simpler, if theyre working.

But the time from plug-in to perfection can be painful, especially when youre talking about a massive, sophisticated computer system, as some Public Service Electric and Gas Co. customers discovered this spring.

PSE&G, with 2.3 million customers the states biggest utility, has invested $150 million in a new computer system that does just about everything except mow the lawn.
