Stagger maids' day off, says HR consultant

KUALA LUMPUR: Give your maids a day off, but stagger it.
This was the suggestion by human resource consultant Alfred Charles.
He said this was a more viable solution as an entire day off creates a lot of inconvenience for the employer.
"Most employers work 5 1/2 days a week, during which time they will not be able to give the maid a day off. You're then left with 1 1/2 days and that is when the employer need the maid the most.
"Maybe the rest day could be staggered. For example, four hours on one day and the other four on another day," said Charles.
