PETALING JAYA: A contest for schools kicked off yesterday, with students aged 14 to 17 being asked to champion the cause of the orang utan.

The New Hope For Orang Utan contest requires students to set up blogs on the Internet and organise activities to raise awareness of threats to the primate.
Along the way they will learn fascinating facts about this tree dweller, such as its DNA being a 96 per cent match with human DNA and it being susceptible to many human diseases.
