This is WEEKEND EDITION from NPR News. I'm Scott Simon.

After making films and winning Oscars, Emmys and Golden Globe nominations, Joan Allen and Jeremy Irons have returned to Broadway. The play, "Impressionism" by Michael Jacobs, is in previews and set to open March 24th.

Ms. Allen plays a gallery owner who cannot part with the paintings she hangs because they remind her of stories from her own life. Mr. Irons plays the roving photojournalist who has grown tired of stories and takes a job in her gallery.
