Staedtler to shut plant in Pahang by April

GERMAN pen and pencil maker Staedtler will shut its only Malaysian factory in Temerloh, Pahang, by next April.

The move will see 200 jobs lost.
"Staedtler has long been a global player with 24 sales subsidiaries around the world, and as a result of this consolidation, manufacturing will be concentrated at fewer production plants," it said in a press statement yesterday.

It will retain the sales, marketing and other support services office in Bangi, Selangor, to service the market here.
