NT: Judge urges Aborigines not to protect sexual predators

DARWIN, July 29 AAP - Aboriginal communities have been warned by the Northern Territory's
top judge that children who speak out about abuse should not be threatened or shamed while
their tormentors are protected.
Too often the actions of men who abuse children were not reported to police, Chief
Justice Brian Martin told the NT Supreme Court in Darwin.
He was sentencing a man who had pleaded guilty to two counts of indecently dealing
with a child while he was aged in his early 20s.
His victim, who called her attacker "uncle", was between 11 and 13 years old when the
abuse ...
