Statement of Lewis Morris Chief Counsel to the Inspector General, US Department
of Health and Human Services Committee on Senate Special Aging July 29,
2009 On behalf of Inspector General Levinson and the Office of Inspector
General (OIG) for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS),
I thank you for the opportunity to discuss commercial sponsorship of continuing
medical education (CME). Physicians must keep abreast of advances in medicine,
and access to objective, unbiased CME is essential to the quality of medicine
