SCARBOROUGH
More than 100 Maine athletes gathered Sunday to celebrate qualifying for the National Senior Games, for athletes age 50 and oldeer.
Eighty-three of the qualifying athletes will travel to Palo Alto, Calif., for the National Senior Games Aug. 1-15. The biennial event will deliver medal competition in 18 sports.
Maine Senior Games is sponsored by the Southern Maine Agency on Aging in Scarborough.
Among qualifying athletes is one of Maine's track and field competitors, Jerry LeVasseur, also a board member for National Senior Games.
