Access to share registers needs tightening, industry body says

SYDNEY, Aug 2 AAP - Chartered Secretaries Australia (CSA) is calling for tighter access
to share registers in a bid to protect privacy rights.
CSA chief executive Tim Sheehy said existing restrictions in the Corporations Act on
access to share registers were inadequate, leaving shareholders vulnerable.
"The Corporations Act has provisions in place, but you can drive a truck through those
provisions," Mr Sheehy said on Friday.
