Arch Chemicals Reports 2Q Earnings

Arch Chemicals announced sales for the second quarter of 2009 of $414.2 million, compared to $469.6 million for the second quarter of 2008.
In a release dated July 30, the company stated:
- Higher pricing and the favorable impact of the Advantis acquisition were more than offset by lower volumes and unfavorable foreign exchange. Earnings per share for 2009 were $1.23 per share on $30.9 million of income, compared to $1.33 per share on $33.2 million of income in 2008. 2009 results include an income tax benefit of $1.3 million, or $0.05 per share.
